Midjourney AI Tutorial: Complete Step-by-Step Beginner's Guide

So here's the thing: Ever since I started YouTube and realized that I could add my own custom logo and banner, I was all in on the idea of creating my own stuff even if I had zero experience with Photoshop or anything similar. I mean, my first two logos, which I've used up until now, were made with Pixellab... on my phone.

Recently, I've become very interested in all things AI and the limitless possibilities they provide. And one of these possibilities is finally creating the perfect logo for my YouTube channel, without being limited by my own skills, or, better said, my lack of skills.

But in order to get the desired result, you know, that perfect image, there are some steps you need to follow. Because, as you may or may not be aware if you've previously used Midjourney, Dall-E, or any other AI of this type, you won't always get what you ask for, at least not on the first try, and you may have to dig a little deeper at times.

Anyway, enough talking about it. Let's take a look at what it's all about and how you can start making amazing images right away for free. And of course, we will start from scratch, creating an account and so on.

The first step is to log in with Discord. Luckily, logging in with Discord is easy and fast. If you already have an account, great! Just log in with your username and password. But if you don't have a Discord account yet, no worries! All you have to do is go to the Discord website, click "Sign Up," and fill in your email, username, and password. Then, you'll be ready to log in your account.

Once you're logged in with Discord, you will need to access Midjourney's invitation link, which can be found on their website. After logging in to Discord, go to Midjourney.ai and click on "Join the Beta." Once you have the link, you can click on it to activate your free trial. Next, you will be redirected to another page where you have to click on "Accept Invite." After that, you are ready to start creating your own art!

Generating images using Midjourney AI is easy and straightforward. On the Midjourney Discord server, you first need to click on one of the newbie channels, and here you can generate your image. To do so, all you need to do is type "slash imagine," then write a sentence or phrase that describes what you want to create.

To get the best results, you first need to access the settings and make sure you're using the right ones for your image. To access setting, just type "/settings," press enter and select high quality and style very high. Personally, I leave the upscale mode alone and prefer to make it later on my own, as well as the public and fast modes.

And this is pretty much all you can say for sure in Midjourney, because whatever comes next is a completely different piece of cake. Of course, there will be some inputs here and there that you should follow, like "--ar 3:2" aspect ratio if you want a wide, landscape image. The default ratio is 2:3, which is more for portraits.

Or, even if you change it in settings, you can still set how much rendering quality time you want to spend by typing "--q" followed by the value. The default number is 1, and higher values take more time and cost more. There's also the stylize, or "--s" argument, which lets you change the strength of the "default styling." You can take it from a value of 0 to 1000 in Version 4.

Of course, these are just a few examples of arguments, among many, many more. But they can't work without prompts... without your ideas... your words. And for more examples of how to use your words to command Midjorney, there are websites like PromptHero.com, which not only shows you a bunch of images created with Midjorney but also the prompts they used to create these images.

And all you have to do is click on one of the images with the style you prefer, copy the prompt, and paste it in Midjourney, where you must change some parameters such as style and aspect ratio. The current version, which is Version 4, does not support styles larger than 1000, or aspect ratios other than 3:2 for wide and 2:3 for portrait. If you want different ratios or parameters, you need to choose another version from the settings, like Version 3.

And of course, replace the key features with your own ideas. to create the image you want to create.

Next, you can choose which image you’d like to save. You can do this by selecting the U or V buttons for each image. Choosing U will upscale that particular image into a larger, more defined version. Choosing V will create an all-new image based on the present image that you choose. You can also use the Refresh button to request a new set of images.

And that's about it—the big picture, that is. The more you practice, the easier it will become! But for now, you know the basics, how to use Midjourney AI to create stunning images with ease. Just remember to log in with Discord, accept the invite from Midjourney, create an image, adjust the settings, and use the tips and tricks to get the best results.
